Dear parishioners,

Peace be with you!

Today, we enter the shortest season but the the most sacred of the liturgical year, that is, the Holy Triduum. I ask you to make the time to participate in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper (Maundy Thursday), of His Passion and Death (Good Friday), and His Resurrection (Easter Vigil and Sunday). This is one continuous liturgy – long but beautiful!

Maundy Thursday

– 12:15 pm: Mid-day Prayer

– 7 pm: Mass of the Lord’s Supper

– Eucharistic Adoration in the Parish Center until 11 PM

Good Friday

– 12:15 pm: Mid-day Prayer

– 2 pm: Stations of the Cross (if weather is good, the devotion will be outdoors)

– 3 pm: Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion and Death

Easter

– 12:15 pm: Mid-day Prayer

– 8 pm: Easter Vigil (if you have not be in one, participate this year. Join us in welcoming Owen, Matthew, Rick, Brett, and Tyler into the Church)
– 8:30 and 10:30 AM: Masses of the Day

Dear parishioners,

This weekend begins the Holy Week. These days, more than any other days of the year, reveal to use the great love and mercy of God for us, through the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus does all these for us so let us suffer and die with Him so that we too may rise with Him.

– April 1, First Saturday Devotion – 9 am Mass, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until Benediction at 2:55 pm.

– Palm Sunday: Saturday Vigil 4:30 pm, Sunday 8:30 and 10:30 am

– April 4, 6 pm: Chrism Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral

– April 6, 7 pm: Mass of the Lord’s Supper, followed by Exposition until 11 pm

– April 7, Good Friday – 2 pm Stations of the Cross, 3 pm Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion

– April 8, Easter Vigil at 8 pm

– April 9, Easter Sunday, 8:30 and 10:30 am

Midnight at the Masquerade – A Murder Mystery Event. Join us at this wonderful event and support our Preschool ministry. If for some reason, you cannot join us in person, you may still support the cause through the Online Auction.

It’s a bright day in the neighborhood!

Our patronal feast day will be this Friday. Join us in honoring Saint Patrick – we have Stations of the Cross at 5:30 PM, Mass at 6 PM, and reception follows immediately after in the Parish Center.

Our Teaching Masses continue. This weekend, we will focus on the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Infosquares about the Parts of the Mass are posted daily on our parish FaceBook photo page.

We Grow Our Church. Thank you to parishioners who invite others to Sunday Mass. If you need a guide for the holy celebration, please find the booklets on the Welcome Tables. Do return them after use.

Celebrate Our Patronal Feast Day

Dear parishioners,

Peace be with you!

Next week’s Friday will be our patronal feast day – mark your calendar and let us celebrate Saint Patrick together. Thank you to John and Rachel Eilertsen, Kim Reese, Rich O’Donnell, Cathy Fafone, and the Knights of Columbus for organizing the event for the parish. Take note: the Mass that day will be celebrated at 6 PM.

Tomorrow will be Parish Day of Penance. If you have not celebrated God’s mercy and forgiveness in the Sacrament of Penance, take the time to visit the Confessional. I will be in the Confessional from 1 pm to 7 pm.

We will continue with our Teaching Masses this weekend, and we will look at the second part of the Mass – the Liturgy of the Word.

Peace be with you!

How is your Lent going so far? Mine has been slow going – I have been nursing a cold since Ash Wednesday. Anyway, I should not let this keep me distracted from spending this time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. I should focus on my faith goal for this Lent. Know that I appreciate the prayers of those who offer them for me.

This weekend, we begin our Teachings Masses, and we focus on our attention on the first part of the Mass, that is, the Introductory Rites. Let us learn together what God is doing for us and how we respond to God. Let us pray that these Teaching Masses will prepare us for our celebration of Holy Thursday.

Next Wednesday will be our Parish Day of Penance. I will be in the Confessional for you, from 1 PM until 7 PM. If you cannot make it to this day, please know the sacrament is celebrated approximately an hour before each weekday and weekend Masses. The Holy Season of Lent is Here.

Dear parishioners,

Peace be with you!

The penitential season of Lent is here. Let us accompany Jesus in the desert these coming forty days. May the forty days of Lent prepare our hearts for the Triduum.

The parish Lenten and Easter liturgies and events are previously shared with you through the parish magazine.

From the Second Sunday of Lent to the Fifth Sunday, we will devote the homilies to deepen our knowledge of the Eucharist. Please use some of your time during this holy season to learn more about the Eucharist. Many excellent resources are available to you for free on Formed.org. Thank, God, It’s Friday!

Dear parishioners,

The email photo bears the input from parishioners these past three weekends – solicited in relation to growing the Church! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and thanks to the members of the Pastoral Council for staying in the Alcove after Mass to meet with you. The blue marks are the responses – action items. And with regards to the Precious Blood, we did not get the needed permission, but pray and keep praying for the granting of permission. Know, however, that although you may only receive the Body of Christ at Mass, you receive Jesus wholly and entirely. Let us promote and continue these conversations in the parish.

The Sunday Mass attendance is slowly growing. Thank you for your efforts to be faithful to the Sunday obligation, and to invite others to Sunday Mass. During the Sundays of Lent, leading to Holy Thursday, we will devote the homily to teaching about the Mass, and commentated part of the Mass. Details in next weekend’s bulletin insert. See you at Mass this weekend.

A group recently completed the Grieving with Great Hope Program, and the same group is starting a Bereavement Ministry in our parish. We plan on offering the group meeting in May and exploring a book study.

Happy Wednesday!

It’s National Marriage Week!

We prayed for married couples at the morning Mass today and this coming days. Thank you, husbands and wives, for giving expression to the mystery and the love of Christ and the Church.

This Saturday, our parish will be hosting Pre-Cana. Please pray both for the mentors couples and engaged couples. Thank you, Pre-Cana Team: Deacon John Payne, Colin and Devin Barrett, Ryan and Amanda Didas, Julian and Carolyn Robinson, Brian and Gayle Reh, John and Lynn Foley, Jack and Linda Marren, Paul and MaryBeth Then, and Mark and Marcie Hamilton.

At the weekend Masses, married couples will be offered the opportunity to renew their marriage vows.

Here is a prayerful retreat that husbands and wives might consider doing at home.

Celebrating Catholic Schools Week

Dear parishioners,

May this parish communication find you in a warm place on this very cold day.

Thanks be to God for the gift of the Gospel – it informs our lives and how we educate ourselves and our children. This week, we recognize the ministry of the Catholic Schools, and conclude the celebration at the weekend Masses.

This Saturday is the first Saturday of the month. Join us in our Eucharistic Devotion in church – opening with Mass at 9 am, followed by adoration, and concluding with benediction at 2:55 pm. See you at Mass or at any point during adoration.

On February 11-12, husbands and wives are invited to renew their marriage vows at Mass – in celebration of National Marriage Week.

Looking for something interesting to listen to during your commute during this month of love? Consider listening to this presentation of Saint Pope John Paul II’s Love and Responsibility. Parents and teens, you are invited to our parish presentation of JP II’s Theology of the Body – register now.

A good and sunny Friday morning to you all!

Let me begin with this beautiful Eucharistic Story – “And in that moment, I remember thinking to myself, ‘There is no way that they’re going to distribute the Eucharist to everyone here. There’s no possible way.’ I thought maybe they would give it to the people in the front, or the people who needed it most. Because, of course, my way of thinking was: ‘This isn’t that important — we don’t all need this.’” Read more.
